Fresh off the 2021 Car of the Year award , Toyota is already looking to the future and a new interpretation of the Yaris may soon make its market debut. This is the Cross Adventure – also available Premiere Edition -, which from the next few weeks will already be available on dedicated channels. Arrival expected in September.
Premiere Edition for the first 12 months
It has the already known ful hybrid technology, its name refers to a compactness of dimensions which, however, places Yaris Cross among urban crossovers , not among small cars. Plenty of space on board and for luggage, an expansion of functionality that passes from the raised driving position and renewed dimensions, thanks to the modularity of the TNGA-B architecture.
In 4.18 meters by 2.56 meters of wheelbase there is a crossover 24 centimeters larger than Yaris. Introduced a year ago with the Elegant specification, now it’s up to the version with the most off-road look. Yaris Cross Adventure is also a Premiere Edition that will be on sale for the first 12 months of marketing, with additional elements that enrich the equipment.
What changes with the Adventure set-up? Yaris Cross modifies the plastic protectors along the perimeter of the body, offers silver roof bars and 18-inch wheels as standard . Design elements such as the black details are repeated on the outside as well as on the inside of the SUV, where the upholstery provides a leatherette look and the black headliner. Chromatic break with applications on the dashboard and on the gold-colored door panels.
The Premiere Edition face, on the other hand, offers leather seats, two-tone body color, wheels with a dedicated design, head up display and the tailgate with motorized and gesture opening.
Four-wheel drive AWD-i
It will be offered on the market with a full hybrid 1.5-liter petrol engine of 116 horsepower, declined in the two-wheel drive specification (Co2 emissions close to 100 g / km) and four-wheel drive AWD-i , with slightly higher fuel consumption (Co2 below 110 g / km). The AWD-i is a scheme that includes a rear electric motor, in addition to the Toyota full hybrid transaxle at the front. The torque to the rear wheels is transmitted in conditions of low grip, with the intervention of the electronics, or by selecting the Trail or Snow mode. Manual activation of the four-wheel drive is possible by operating on the tunnel.
The trunk will be modular
The Toyota Yaris Cross proposal will try to conquer a slice of the market in the competitive B-SUV segment, where it presents itself with cards in the name of practicality of use, ranging from the trunk with height-adjustable double bottom to the 40:20 divisible seats: 40 . From the intermediate set-up of the Yaris Cross offer, the full led rear lights will have the arrows with sequential ignition, as for the Adas the offer of the Toyota Teammate Advanced Park system, which detects the free spaces on the road and parks autonomously, without driver intervention on brake and accelerator.
