We almost overlooked the most unique car of the SEMA Show 2017, a Toyota Prius that has installed the 6.2 V8 engine of the Challenger SRT Hellcat and that later have boosted up to 1,000 hp. Crazy.
The Toyota Prius and the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat could not be more different vehicles, but this modified unit presented in the SEMA Show 2017 shortens the distance between them. The reason? This Toyota Prius has the Hellcat engine and not content with that, its creators have boosted it from the 716 HP it produces in its original configuration to about 1,000 HP with the installation of a volumetric compressor with more capacity.
It is a unit of the second generation of the Toyota Prius that has been modified by American Racing Headers (ARH) specifically for the latest edition of the SEMA. Named Toyota PriuSRT8 Hellcat , this car retains the exterior appearance of Toyota’s best-selling hybrid – with the exception of decoration or tires and tires – but beneath its seemingly normal bodywork is a stringer chassis that serves as an anchor for the new engine 6.2 V8 supercharged and for the new set of suspensions.
Because this Prius of 1,000 HP of power , unlike the production model, has the engine placed in longitudinal position sending its strength exclusively to the rear wheels through a manual change of six relations . Those 1,000 CV are transmitted to the ground through a rigid axle and tires for acceleration races, so that its creators estimate that it could complete the quarter mile in about 8 seconds.
Surely this Prius with Hellcat engine is the first of many similar projects that we will see over the next few years, mainly because it is already possible to acquire the Hellcat engine through Mopar , the accessories division of the FCA Group brands. And also for an amount not exorbitant for the performance it offers. Take a look at the following video to discover more details of the Toyota PriuSRT8 Hellcat .
