According to ADAC statistics, the owners of the city small car have had the least trouble in the last two decades.
Introduced in 1998, the Toyota Yaris can be proud of its history so far: it was voted Car of the Year in 2000, and now, 20 years later, it has become the most reliable car in the last two decades, according to ADAC statistics. Founded in 1903, the German Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club eV (ADAC) is the largest car club in Europe, and currently has more than 21 million registered members.
The “yellow angels” of ADAC and its partners are called in by thousands of motorists every day, helping 3,756,226 people in need in 2019 alone. Thanks to the huge number of cases and the thorough registration of problems, the club has been compiling reliability statistics since 1978, which is considered one of the most reliable sources in Europe. A review of the last 20 years has clearly shown that generations of Toyota Yaris lead this statistic high.
In the two decades, the Yaris have never been rated “excellent” or at least “good,” so the small car has earned the title of the most reliable car in 20 years. The recently published ADAC report for 2020 (i.e. for 2019) , which assessed a total of 113 different types of 25 brands, found that 18 types were considered less reliable, while 37 received a reliable rating.
Incidentally, most of the explosions in 2019 were also due to battery failures, but there were also many problems with the tires, where primarily the ever-expanding puncture repair kits caused – and are expected to cause in the future – unpleasant minutes for owners. It is also eloquent to note that most of the battery-related problems were produced by 5-6-year-old cars, so at the age when factory batteries begin to terminate service.
