Appeared in 2003 and restyled in 2010, the Volkswagen Touran began seriously dating. At the motor show in Geneva in 2015 (March 5 to 15), the Wolfsburg Group has chosen to introduce a new generation to modernized lines. All seems more dynamic, more incisive. Technically, the new Touran receives MQB modular platform. Thanks to this, the German manufacturer says that the extension of the body (13 cm) could be almost entirely passed on to the wheelbase (11.3 cm) and therefore benefit the space on board. However, boot volume, both 5-seater 7 seater, seems meanwhile not progress.
Weight and fuel consumption down
The MQB platform, but also the use of lightweight construction technology at the body and the transmission chain, allowed Volkswagen Touran to lower the weight of its compact MPV. It displays up to 62 pounds less on the scale. Under the hood, Volkswagen announced more efficient TDI and TSI engines (up to 19% consumption less). The Touran 1.6 TDI with DSG 7 Box 110 consumes only 4.1 l / 100 km. He is supported by two other blocks TDI 150 horsepower and 190 horsepower. Gasoline side, you have the choice between three powers: 110 horsepower, 150 horsepower and 180 horsepower. Stop & Start is now standard.
Engine choices run the gamut of three petrol (110 PS 1.2 TSI, 150 PS 1.4 TSI and 180 PS 1.8 TSI) and three diesel (110 PS 1.6 TDI, 150 PS 2.0 TDI and 190 PS 2.0 TDI) mills, mated to either a six-speed manual, a six-speed DSG (2.0 TDI) or a seven-speed DSG. Thanks to a lower weight, standard start-stop and brake energy recuperation, as well as a drag coefficient of 0.296, the new Touran uses up to 19% less fuel than before.
Like, you discover the R-Line version of the “athlete” look with particular specific bumpers and upholstery. On board, Volkswagen said it had reduced the seats in the second row who “almost flush with the loading surface when folded.”
Side equipment, the German manufacturer quotes without even specify whether they are standard or optional on anti-collision braking, adaptive control, the driving assistant bottling, parking assistant output or the maneuvering assistant Trailer (proposed for the first time on a minivan).
Safety-wise, the Touran comes with up to nine airbags, Isofix child seat anchors on all five rear seats and an Automatic Post-Collision Braking System as standard. Also available are Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Front Assist with City Emergency Braking, Side Assist with Rear Traffic Alert, Traffic Jam Assist, Pre-Crash proactive occupant protection and Trailer Assist for the first time on an MPV.
In September 2015
The new Touran arrive on the first European markets in the month of September. Volkswagen should provide the full range from the Geneva show .
