The Hyperion XP-1 dream is becoming more and more real. The spectacular hydrogen car that promises 1,609 km of autonomy , an acceleration from 0 to 96 km / h in less than 2.2 seconds and an interior with a 98-inch screen included has reappeared … rolling for the first time on the road, in Las Vegas (USA).
The Hyperion XP-1 was unveiled in the summer of last year, promising to intensify the electric car war. Now, on the occasion of the brand new CES in Las Vegas, the company based in Orange County (California, USA) has published a video in which it shows a functional and camouflaged prototype of this model circulating on roads open to the public.
The Hyperion XP-1 is a two-seater with a futuristic design based on flowing lines aimed at optimizing aerodynamics.
Although, its main claim is hidden inside, where it treasures a fuel cell propulsion system that, as the brand promises, allows the car to reach 356 km / h of top speed and complete the 0 to 96 km / h in less than 2.2 seconds .
For now, the power that it is capable of carrying out has not been revealed, although according to the figures announced it is capable of becoming the fastest electric street car in the world . Currently, the record is held by the Genovation GXE, reaching 340.85 km / h.
The dreamlike figures predicted by the Hyperion XP-1 are plausible, in large part, thanks to the use of lightweight materials, such as the chassis made of titanium and carbon fiber, which leave the unladen weight at just 1,032 kg. That is, about half of what a Bugatti Chiron weighs .
98-inch screen and a spaceship interior
Of course, if the exterior and mechanics are amazing, the interior is not far behind. In this new installment of images, the brand has not revealed new snapshots, but the concept presented a few months ago showed us a cabin more typical of a spaceship than a supercar.
Without reaching the stridency and extreme surrealism of the Alieno Arcanum , the Hyperion XP-1 is equipped with a gigantic 98-inch screen that covers the entire dashboard.
There is not a trace of physical buttons and the steering wheel , flattened and unfinished to be completely closed at the top, and a completely atypical and digital center console attract attention especially .
It remains to be seen what all this project will finally do, but it certainly meets the credentials to become one of the benchmark electric supercars in the coming years … at least on paper.
The company plans to start production of the Hyperion XP-1 in 2022 and, if successful, 300 units will be manufactured .
