Everything made us think that it was going to be at the beginning of this month of February when Hyundai was going to present to the whole world its new IONIQ 5 , a fully electric crossover with which the new IONIQ sub-brand was born , under which the Korean firm will market from here henceforth all its electrified models.
But finally Hyundai has confirmed that it will be next February 23 when this IONIQ 5 is presented , so to keep us alert now they have been encouraged to launch this first official image of its interior.
An ecofriendly interior
In this image you can see that this crossover will combine technology and minimalism in equal parts. Its two comfortable seats, like the rest, may be covered with an \’eco-processed\’ leather that is dyed and treated with vegetable oil (linseed is used in this, while Skoda Enyaq iV leather is used to treat the leather. olive). Those who are not encouraged by this material can also choose textile fabrics that have been woven with fibers derived from sustainable components, such as sugar cane, wool, polyester threads and even using plastics from recycled bottles.
Hyundai applies a layer of polyurethane varnish mixed with biological oil extracted from rapeseed and corn in many parts of its cabin, such as the steering wheel, the instrument panel, the door panels …
Analyzing its ergonomics, it must be taken into account that this new IONIQ 5 will sport a central console called ‘Universal Island’, which has storage spaces, bottle holders … This can be slid longitudinally and separates its front seats, the passenger seat with a footrest that will allow our companion to relax on trips. But this can also serve as a rest area while we carry out our recharges on the road.
Up to 313 hp of power and 450 km of autonomy
Behind its steering wheel is where two large screens will be placed that seem to form a single one, a configuration very similar to the one that Mercedes-Benz uses in its new models with MBUX system.
Finally, to say that this IONIQ 5 will be supported by the new E-GMP platform , which in addition to serving to maximize interior space, allows this crossover to have interesting electrical mechanics with four-wheel drive and up to 313 HP of power, of So you can accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in just over five seconds. They also ensure that its autonomy in the WLTP cycle will be about 450 kilometers.
