After two years of total avalanche of SUV news , we have already told you that during the coming months the market will witness a complete renewal of other segments recently forgotten, such as the utilities, the saloons and, in minor measure, that of the always interesting compact. However, there will also be room to continue evolving SUV models whose launch was somewhat earlier. And, among them, two will stand out above the rest: Renault Kadjar and Seat Ateca .
The first, more veteran, already needed a renewal to face a more modern competition, and this will come from the hand of a Renault Kadjar 2019 that we will see probably debut at the next Paris Motor Show , in the month of October . The second, the Seat Ateca , is a completely new SUV, but the Spanish brand takes advantage of new technology available in the VW group, as well as the modifications imposed by the new WLTP emissions standard, to renew its range and make it even more attractive. With the Nissan Qashqai always in the spotlight, and how can it be otherwise attending the sales lists, which will be better ? Let’s see what each one will bring.
Renault Kadjar 2019
Based again on the same platform and with the majority of components of the Nissan Qashqai precisely , as up to now, the new Renault Kadjar 2019 will presumably arrive this fall already on the market . For now, the French brand has not revealed details of its renewal, but taking into account information that comes to us from France we can already reveal the most important thing it will bring.

Aesthetically, the Renault Kadjar 2019 will not show a great revolution, but subtle changes to improve its image. New features and lines already seen in the Mégane, especially with a new grille, optics, pilots and bumpers, will add a larger and redesigned rear door to increase its functionality and ease of loading.
On the outside, because inside the new Renault Kadjar will also bet on a more modern environment and with a greater load of technology . To the new systems of assistance to the driving and to the total update of software, the French SUV will include a new system of information and entertainment. This will debut a new 7-inch touch screen that, as an option, can be already ** 8.7 inches in the upper finishes **. The perceived quality will also increase thanks to the use of new materials and better plastics.
Renault Kadjar 2019: with 1.3 TCE engines
The technology in the new Renault Kadjar should also reach the mechanical chapter. And, in its range of engines, the renewed SUV will debut the advanced gasoline engines developed already in collaboration with Daimler-Mercedes, with the 1.3 TCE direct injection and version of 115, 140 and 160 HP of power. In Diesel, the well-known and brilliant 1.5 dCi of 115 HP , also updated to adapt to the new emission regulations, will continue to command the offer with the superior 1.6 dCi of 130 HP .
That in terms of conventional offer, because the new Renault Kadjar 2019 should also already bet on its first micro-hybrid versions with 48V technology , something that already offers the Scénic and that would allow to reduce the emissions of its range. It is a matter of waiting only two months for Renault to confirm us, officially, all the renewal of the SUV.
Seat Ateca 2018
Before, in fact it is already on sale, the Seat Ateca premieres important novelties. It is not that they needed it, since it has been on the market for a short time and it is one of the most sold SUVs, but it never hurts to renew the range to add improvements for the user. Thus, as a great novelty, the Seat Ateca just released this summer a new Digital Cockpit instrument panel , as optional or standard equipment in the FR Plus finish.
With this advance, the Seat Ateca is committed to a huge interactive screen of 10.25 inches , multiconfigurable and that allows to see the status of the car, 2D or 3D navigation, phone information, audio system, consumption, the driving recommendation … In addition, the SUV offers the latest Seat systems in terms of assistance and safety, with automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, jam aids, progressive steering or involuntary lane change or blind spot controls.
Standing out as always for its great space and functionality ( measuring 4.36 meters and offers a trunk with up to 510 liters of cargo), the Seat Ateca also presents this summer with some mechanical innovation. And it is that, as we have learned, the new WLTP emissions standard that is affecting all manufacturers has forced to temporarily withdraw all the 2.0 TDI 4×4 offer that until now included its range, leaving in Diesel as alternatives only the 1.6 TDI and in gasoline and yes the 1.0, 1.4 and 2.0 TSI , with powers between 115 and 190 HP.
Seat Ateca 2018: already with Digital Cockpit
However, Seat Ateca is also preparing to receive its most awaited version soon. And is that sources of the company also confirmed that after the summer will come their previously unpublished versions 2.0 TDI 4X2 150 HP , with manual and automatic change: due to problems of approval during the launch of the Ateca, were removed from the range. Already solved and with SCR technology, they will undoubtedly be their most commercially interesting versions.
But there is more, because the Seat Ateca will continue in coming months incorporating new variants to the SUV. The first will be the launch of the Cupra Ateca , already under the new independent brand of Seat: planned for the end of the year with 4Drive all-wheel drive, betting on a much more sporty aesthetic, a new dynamic tuning and a 2.0 TSI engine of gasoline with 300 CV and change DSG of 7 speeds.
And the next? As it points to 2019 : a Seat Ateca TGI compressed natural gas . Following the line of the Mii, Ibiza or Leon, the SUV will also bet on this bi-fuel propulsion system (gas and gasoline), probably with a new variant composed of a 1.5 TSI gasoline engine with cylinder disconnection system and about 130 HP of power. With more autonomy thanks to the implementation of up to 3 gas tanks, it will be the definitive confirmation of an SUV that has almost everything: agility, range, space and technology.
