After being shown as a concept at the 2014 edition of the Salon of São Paulo, the new Nissan Kicks finally come to the streets. The new compact crossover had its production confirmed by the CEO of the Japanese automaker, Carlos Ghosn, during a press conference held on Monday (4). The model will be manufactured in Resende plant (RJ) from this year.
“The compact crossovers are very attractive to consumers in Latin America. Kicks with Nissan, we go beyond the obvious to conquer them, with a sharp design and performance that our customers crave, “said Jose Valls, chairman of Nissan Latin America. The sports-utility will compete with models like Honda HR-V and Jeep Renegade.
There are not many details about the new Kicks, but it is believed that the model is still equipped with the same engine March and Versa, namely the 1.6 liter 111 horsepower, with manual or automatic transmission CVT type. However, the crossover can also offer driver of the Sentra, a 2.0 liter 140 hp, the most expensive versions.
For the production of Kicks, the industrial complex of Resende is receiving investments of R $ 750 million and should hire 600 new workers and to start a second round. Currently, the plant produces the March and Versa.
