Kia has unveiled the fourth SUV in its range: the Kia Stonic. With its eye-catching style and wide range of customization, it comes to shake the established references in the growing segment of urban crossovers!
The result of the collaboration of Kia design studios in Europe and Korea, the Kia Stonic imposes its brand in terms of design. The “tiger snout,” a mark of recognition for Kia models, combined with a fluid silhouette and thick C-pillars, gives the crossover a distinct personality. The proportions also contribute to the dynamism of the features, in particular by cantilevers reduced to their simplest expression, a long wheelbase, a guarantee of a neat inner habitability, and a contained height. The Kia Stonic is also highly customizable as it offers the ability to combine nine five-shade body colors to design 20 unique two-color combinations.
The chic and sporty look continues on board, where the color is also present through the inserts that brighten the edge of the furniture, the upholstery or the topstitching of the steering wheel, a superb effect.
Focused on young drivers, the Kia Stonic obviously embodies what is best in terms of connected multimedia system. Driven by a large 7-inch multi-touch screen, it has extensive connectivity with smartphones via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Smartphones can also be recharged via the USB ports in the front and rear seats. And these are just some of the elements of the Stonic’s rich standard equipment, which can also include heated seats, hands-free access and start-up, or the back-up camera for easy maneuvering. .
Despite its compact size, the Kia Stonic can accommodate up to five occupants. Their luggage will easily find room in the trunk of a minimum capacity of 352 liters, repositionable floor on two levels.
Kia’s newborn is also one of the safest crossovers in its class thanks to the many active safety systems that it is equipped with: front collision avoidance with pedestrian detection, blind spot detection system with cross-traffic alert at the back, and warning of unintentional line crossing. All these devices will be added to the trajectory management assistant next year.
Four efficient and economical engines are proposed. The petrol offer is based on 1.25 MPI 84 hp, 1.4 MPI 100 hp and 1.0 Turbo 120 hp; the latter two offering the rare advantage on the segment of being matched to a six-speed manual gearbox. A particularity that we also find on the diesel engine; the IDRC 1.6 of 115 horses.
