The giant Great Wall Motors continues to expand the range of its Tank models with the arrival of the new 500. In this way, the new Tank 500 2022 is presented as the Chinese rival of the current Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and will come in several equipment options and a customizable version. The new Tank 500 was spotted during the Chengdu Auto Show in August 2021 and will soon make its arrival at the brand’s dealerships. Its prices start from 335,000 yuan (47,745 euros) to 395,000 yuan (56,295 euros).
Features and motorization
The new Great Wall Tank 500 is presented with measures ranging from 5,070 mm long, 1,934 mm wide, 1,905 mm high and a wheelbase of 2,850 mm. Its design is characterized by a prominent front with a large grille with full LED optical groups and a bumper with fog lights at its ends. It also features roof rails and a shark antenna, while in its saga it incorporates a spoiler at the end of the roof, a tailgate with the spare wheel, vertical pilots and a decorative protective plate at the bottom of the bumper.
In the cabin we will have a configuration of five or seven seats. Equipment options include the Business Edition, Sports Edition, Black Warrior Edition and a customizable variant. In technological terms, it presents a digital instrumentation with a 12.3-inch screen and another 14.6-inch multimedia touch screen. Its interior covers luxury elements with wooden moldings on the dashboard, center console and door panels. There are also knurled metal inserts and two-tone leather upholstery options.
Under the hood, the Tank 500 features a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 block that incorporates a 48v mild hybrid system. This means that it will have a combustion engine assisted by an electric generator/starter. Its generated power is 345 hp and 500 Nm of torque. With this powertrain, the Tank 500 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7. 3 seconds and its consumption is reported at 10.7 lt/100 km.
