Hyundai’s luxury brand Genesis presents the Genesis X, an electric sports coupe that may well see the light of day.
Hyundai’s luxury brand, Genesis, is not at its first concept vehicles with a very successful design. We have proof of that again with the unveiling of the Genesis X Concept , a prototype vehicle showing what a future electric sports coupe from the brand could look like.
While Hyundai wants to strengthen its range of electric vehicles, especially with the upcoming introduction of the Ionic 5 range, its luxury brand, Genesis , has clearly demonstrated its willingness to follow suit, but without any real precise plan.
We know that the brand intends to introduce a first electric model within a few years, and, given the trend, it would have been easy enough to bet that it would be an SUV. By unveiling the Genesis X concept vehicle , the brand is mixing things up a bit and hinting at a different direction since the concept is presented in the guise of a sports coupe. Its lines are simply sublime, many would certainly like to see it go into production.
This is not the first time that Genesis has presented a GT-like EV concept. In fact, this is the brand’s fifth prototype after the New York, GV80, Essentia and Mint concepts . The Genesis X features the brand’s latest take on sustainable automotive design.
The front end of the Genesis X features a low but wide silhouette thanks to a shield-shaped grille. The sides display the design of traditional GT vehicles with a long hood and a short tail end, while the two illuminated stripes connected to the headlights and taillights add to the modern design. The most successful design element is undoubtedly the five-spoke twin-turbine type alloy rims that reveal the lime-colored brake calipers.
The manufacturer did not present any technical details regarding the engine or autonomy. We understand that this is mainly a style study, and that the manufacturer’s electrification plans will not be revealed until later.
“The car we are unveiling today is a prototype incorporating the essential elements found in Genesis design. Please take a moment to explore Genesis’ forward-looking design with this prototype embodying the progressive and daring spirit of our brand, ”said Jay Chang, Global Brand Manager, Genesis.
