Chevrolet to Launch Impala Blackout Concept

Chevrolet to Launch Impala Blackout Concept – The Chevrolet Impala will be making its way to Sin City, albeit a tad darker and meaner looking. Debuting at the 2014 SEMA show, The Chevrolet Impala Blackout Concept builds on the tasteful styling, and adds a healthy dose of, well as the name suggests, black.

Every accessory shown on the Impala Blackout Concept is available from Chevrolet. The basic, but very handsome look starts with the deep black exterior paintwork. A black grille surround has been added, as well as painted mirror covers which, you guessed it, are black. Black and aluminum wheels add the right amount of contrast to the concept, and a black Chevrolet bow tie gussies up the Impala just enough. Like James Bond before a hand at poker.

The model will be called the Impala Midnight Edition and will get blacked-out styling cues designed to give a more sinister look to the full-size sedan. The model is expected to arrive in Chevrolet showrooms in four or five months.

“We are trying to get it for this model year,” Steve Majoros, Chevrolet’s marketing director for cars and crossovers, told Edmunds. If everything goes according to plan, the car could arrive late this spring, the executive added. The carmaker hasn’t offered any details on pricing.

Majoros said the Impala Midnight Edition will get a blacked-out grille, black bowtie in the center of the grille and a restyled steering wheel. “Blacked-out is a huge trend. You see so many smoked gray wheels, black wheels,” Majoros said, adding that the modifications make the Impala look “gorgeous.”

The 2015 Chevrolet Impala Midnight Edition is expected to be very similar to the concept car, especially since many of the items used on the study are available as Chevrolet accessories.

The car will adopt the concept’s black grille surround, painted mirror caps, rear spoiler and 19-inch aluminum wheels. The all-black leather-trimmed interior will feature sport pedals and custom trim plates with a wire-mesh pattern.

Just like the concept, the production car will be powered by a 3.6-liter V6 engine rated at 305 hp and 264 lb-ft (358Nm) of torque.
