This prototype is an advance of a new model of production, the X7, that BMW will present in 2018. It will have an all-terrain type body and will be larger than the X5 .
The BMW Concept X7 iPerformance has a plug-in hybrid propulsion system. No technical details are known except that the thermal engine is gasoline and turbocharged by a technology already in use that BMW calls “TwinPower Turbo”. Consists in gasoline engines, the use of a twin – scroll turbocharger ( Twin Scroll ), direct injection and variable valve timing .
It has six independent seats in three rows of seats. To cover the seats two types of leather have been used: the one that covers the areas most exposed to rubbing is bronze bronze color and the rest of another color that BMW calls Rauchweiss.
The instrumentation is shown through a 12.3-inch screen that is located next to the central screen of the information and entertainment system . It is a display layout similar to that offered by Mercedes-Benz in the E-Class.
To decorate the passenger compartment has used open pore ash wood with matt dark finish and also some matt and polished aluminum inserts. To illuminate the interior BMW has used beams of laser light on the roof. The shift knob, multimedia system controller (iDrive) and buttons integrated in the steering wheel are covered with a backlit crystal in a dark tone that BMW calls Silver Night.
According to BMW, the seats in the second row are as comfortable as those of the first. Those who travel there have at their disposal an entertainment system consisting of two screens, which opens functions such as the ability to share multimedia content on the screen of the passenger traveling next to it or the front center console through the use of gestures.
On the outside, the rods and the calender frame have been carved in one piece. The headlights are led and, according to BMW, the appearance of the front of this prototype anticipates what will be the design of future models of the brand. The color chosen for the body is called Manhattan metallic and the wheels are 23 inches in diameter.
