BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe, After a Series 1 Sedan reserved for China, BMW is working on a Series 2 Gran Coupe with more slender lines. This time, Europe should also benefit from it, but not before 2020, and with front-wheel drive at entry-level.
At BMW, the name Gran Coupé has not yet spread too much. But our spy photos announce its arrival in the Series 2 range, although Europe will have to wait until 2020 to enjoy. For the time being, this prototype is indeed still very camouflaged, a sign that its development is only in its infancy. However, it is enough to discover proportions very different from those of his older sister Series 4, with a shorter, higher hood and larger overhangs. No doubt possible: as the future Series 1 , this Series 2 Gran Coupe will be a pull in these entry-level versions. It will be based on the UKL platform used for the Mini line , as well as the X1 andSeries 2 Active Tourer or Gran Tourer .
BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe : The six-cylinder absent subscribers
This technical choice has already been made by a four-door compact BMW sedan: the Sedan Series 1 , reserved for China. But this time, the lines will show all the same more slender, to justify the appellation of “coupe four-doors” … and tariffs more salty. The range of mechanics will also be more muscular, and the xDrive all-wheel drive will allow the most powerful versions to pass their cavalry to the ground without blinking. On the other hand, there is no need to hope to find a six-cylinder as on the Series 2 Coupé and Cabriolet , this architecture is not compatible with the transverse implantation of engines on the platform UKL. Only three-cylinder and four-cylinder will be cited in this Series 2 Gran Coupé.
