Unlike its predecessor, the latest A5 Sportback is entitled to the RS label. But this RS5 five-door is intended primarily for North America, as evidenced by its presentation at the New York Motor Show.
Unlike coupes and cabriolets, the first-generation A5 Sportback has never benefited from the letters RS, which adorn the most powerful Audi. But for the second version of this five-door sedan with a slender profile, launched in 2016, the jealousy is no longer appropriate: it comes in turn in RS5 version at the New York Motor Show . A variant that takes the V6 2.9 biturbo coupe , 450 bhp strong and 600 Nm. Associated with a quattro all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission, this engine would allow to move from 0 to 100 km / h in 4 s approximately despite an advertised weight of 1,840 kg. While the chassis also benefits from sportier settings than on the rest of the range.
An import into France still far away
The date of import into Europe of this RS5 Sportback remains uncertain. In fact, it targets North America, a continent where Audi does not offer the RS4 Avant station wagon , another hatchback with a different look, but with identical mechanics. For an arrival in France, it will be necessary to wait until 2019 at least, and expect an invoice close to 96 520 € requested by the RS5 Coupé, except malus of 10 500 €. However, it remains possible to fall back on the “simple” S5 Sportback, posted 76 920 € and already gratified 354 ch. As for the return of an RS5 Cabriolet in the range, it does not seem totally acquired: at Audi, jealousies are perhaps not yet finished.
