From 2024, it will be possible for independent racing teams to order a Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R for competition.The Chevrolet Corvette C8 family continues to grow. Shortly after unveiling the high-performance Z06, Chevrolet proceeds to the next chapter of the model. This is the Z06 GT3.R , an example exclusively dedicated to competition, but which consumers will be able to obtain from 2024.
This Chevrolet Corvette was primarily designed to race in GT3 events. It is therefore in no way approved for the road.
Based on the same aluminum architecture as a Corvette Z06 , this racing car goes even further by incorporating adjustable aerodynamic downforce through a huge spoiler, side skirts and front spoiler, without count the integration of active flaps which modify the effect of lift according to the speed at which the vehicle is traveling.
All GT3.Rs will receive the Z07 Performance Package as standard. This includes racing tires, carbon fiber rims and the spoiler in question. Chevrolet is also promising a car that is clearly lighter than a regular Z06, but has yet to confirm all the details.
It is powered by the same LT6 V8 engine as the production Z06, which has a displacement of 5.5 liters. But unlike the production car, which produces 670 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque at an astounding 8,400 rpm, the engine of this racing car will be limited to between 500 and 600 horsepower in order to respect the regulations for GT3 events.
The Chevrolet Racing performance division explained in its press release that the Corvette Z06 GT3.R is still performing endurance testing, and full specs and pricing would be announced next year. General Motors would like to begin marketing this racing model towards the end of 2022.
