2024 Cadillac Celestiq Design, Specs, Features & Details

Cadillac embraced the electrification of the automobile with one idea in mind: to become the “Standard of the World” again, as it was claimed in the 1920s to 1960s. Moreover, it is certainly no coincidence that Cadillac claims to have been inspired by the Cadillac V16 of the 1930s or, again, the most beautiful Cadillac of all, the 1957 Eldorado, for the design of the 2024 Cadillac CELESTIQ.

It took electrification for Cadillac to return to the world of the large prestige sedan. There was the CT6, but it was not enough. We dream of the concepts Sixteen 2003, CIEL 2011 and, more recently, InnerSpace 2022. Just a few months ago, Cadillac introduced the CELESTIQ concept and said it would be produced. We have heard it many times in the past… This time, it’s the right one, Cadillac has presented its new spearhead, the 2024 CELESTIQ sedan.

2024 Cadillac Celestiq Design

CELESTIQ is spectacular in terms of proportions, that’s a fact. It is particularly bold of Cadillac to arrive with such a prominent rear silhouette. Moreover, we count on the presence of a tailgate at the rear. What disappoints is the very close stylistic proximity to the LYRIQ. We understand that this is the design language of Cadillac as a whole, but the CELESTIQ should distinguish itself more radically than a limousine version of a $70,000 SUV.

To go into more detail, the optical blocks each have 1.3 million pixels to optimize lighting. Like the LYRIQ, the grille is part of a large backlit black plastic wall lamp with light play at start-up. On the front wing, we discover the opening for charging. The highly streamlined windshield sets the tone for the very low glass roofline that envelops the entire body. The “base” wheels are 23 inches and are fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport EV tires. For the choice of colors, Cadillac claims that they are infinite. The rear design is certainly the most spectacular with its large lights that sculpt the stern while creating a three-dimensional effect.

Clearly, Cadillac now sees high prestige in simplicity. We count on the presence of 4 seats in an extremely refined cabin. In front of the front occupants, we discover a screen 55 inches wide placed on a dashboard without artifice. In the console, another 11-inch screen is invited for the management of controls such as air conditioning. The rear adopts a similar strategy with 3 other screens, 2 of 12.6 inches for infotainment and another of 8 inches for the “Rear Command Center”. Occupants will be under a glass roof of varying opacity and will enjoy 450 ambient LEDs as well as an AKG audio system with 38 speakers. The manufacturer introduces no less than 115 components manufactured in 3D printing, and this, in a collection of materials all more exotic than the others.

2024 Cadillac Celestiq Engine

CELESTIQ is built on its own version of the platform incorporating Ultium technology. We find in its design a collection of noble materials including carbon fiber. Cadillac is not yet extremely precise in the numbers, but it is claimed that the battery will have a capacity of 111 kilowatt hours. All-wheel drive will be standard thanks to the addition of 2 electric motors, one on each axle. On account, the power will be around 600 horsepower, and the torque, in the 640 pound-feet. The estimated range is around 483 kilometers, while the 0 to 100 kilometers / hour will be completed under 4 seconds. Considering the price of the CELESTIQ, this is a disappointment as products like the Tesla Model S Plaid and Lucid Air do significantly better for just over half the price. The CELESTIQ is also not distinguished by its charging system that accepts only 200 kilowatts. In this regard, a Hyundai IONIQ 5 at $ 60,000 does better with its capacity of 350 kilowatts.

Packed with technology

As it is at the top of the GM range, there is a collection of innovations and technologies. Road handling should benefit with a new generation of magnetic and pneumatic suspensions, in particular. As fashion increasingly dictates, the rear wheels are also directional up to 3.5 degrees. In this regard, the Mercedes-Benz EQS, another electric limousine, goes up to 10 degrees. Management management adjusts according to conduct. The point of interest will possibly be the arrival of the new generation of autonomous driving under the name Ultra Cruise. Of course, the largesse of empowerment will go further than with the current Super Cruise.

Unique

Each CELESTIQ will be hand-built at the Warren, Michigan plant starting in December 2023. All will be assembled according to the buyer’s requests. Cadillac offers an infinite number of possible materials and finishes with this standard. Cadillac is not talking about a limited quantity, but there is a good chance that we will not come across a CELESTIQ very often considering its base price of more than $ 300,000.
