It is clear that the SUV market does not stop growing, and that more and more buyers decide to get a vehicle of this type to replace their old car. The SUV fever, widespread in all market segments, now has a new member after the official presentation of the Volkswagen Taigo , a B-segment SUV, with a coupe look and best-selling trends that will also be manufactured in Spain.
The Taigo will be a B-SUV coupe built on the modular MQB-A0 platform corresponding to the utility segment, closely related to the VW Polo . Its design does not leave indifferent, and although it is possible to recognize certain lines that remind us of an “inflated” Polo, the reality is that the compromise between sportiness and versatility is well achieved.
Chrome accents contrast with unpainted plastic bumpers, which together with an illuminated grille and up to 18-inch wheels, give the Taigo an eye-catching look that will surely appeal to thousands upon thousands of buyers. Inside, the Taigo will basically be a VW Polo that, yes, will have a greater color range for the decorative moldings and a new infotainment system with a screen of up to 10 inches. The space on board is more generous than in the Polo, especially in the rear seats, while the boot space gains volume until reaching 438 liters of capacity.
The 2022 Volkswagen Taigo SUV will only have gasoline engines
As it is already a trend within the segment, and even more so within the Volkswagen Group, the new Taigo will not have mechanical options powered by diesel, at least in Europe, so that it can only be purchased with TSI engines. There will be three variants that will initially be available: a block 1.0 TSI with three cylinders with 95 and 110 hp and, as top of the range, a block 1.5 TSI with four cylinders and 150 hp.
Among the most outstanding equipment that this new Volkswagen Taigo will be able to mount we find, for example, an LED matrix lighting system (IQ.LIGHT) , a 7- speed dual-clutch DSG automatic transmission , 100% digital instrumentation, panoramic glass roof or keyless entry and start system. The first units of this coupe SUV will arrive before the end of the year on our roads.
