The 2018 Volkswagen Passat GT made its world debut at the North American Auto Show.
It is an improved sport version of the sedan, reflected in its performance and with some clues of visual style.
These include VW\’s iconic red stripe along the front grille, red brake calipers and a sporty exhaust.
Volkswagen has also made the roof, mirror caps, window trim and glossy black door look sportier and is equipped with 19-inch Tornado wheels as standard.
Powering the new car is a 3.8-liter VR6 that produces 280 hp and 258 lb feet of torque.
This powertrain is paired with a six-speed DSG automatic transmission that comes with shift paddles.
According to VW, the 2018 Volkswagen Passat GT will have 19mpg in city driving conditions and 28mpg on highways.
The suspension has also been lowered to improve the handling of the car.
Production models are based on R-Line trim and come with LED headlights and daytime running lights as standard.
Inside the car, the center console is finished in shiny piano black and the seats are leather.
All seats in the car can be heated and a two-zone air conditioning system has been installed.
A new 6.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system is located in the center of the dashboard and comes with Bluetooth support, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink.

The price of the car starts at $ 29,090 (£ 21,000).
