2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS, The GT2 RS is the most powerful version of the current 911 Carrera 2016 (generation 991) range thanks to a supercharged 700-horsepower gasoline engine. It occupies the place that left the 911 GT2 RS of 2010 (generation 997), a model that Porsche offered in a limited edition to 500 units in the year 2010. It is on sale for 326 934 euros.
The engine is a variant of the six-cylinder bóxer of the 911 Turbo and Turbo S , but with a series of changes that result in a remarkably superior power: 700 hp (94 more than the 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series, which to date Was the 911 most powerful). To achieve these results, Porsche has installed larger turbochargers , a new cooling system and a titanium exhaust which, moreover, is 7 kilograms lighter than that used in the 911 Turbo.
As it already happened with the GT3 RS 2015 version , the GT2 RS loses the six-speed manual shift in favor of a dual-clutchautomatic and seven-ratio (PDK). Traction is on the rear wheels and the steering system acts on both the front and rear wheels – this system already have other versions of the range. The effect of the rear differential is supported by the “Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus”, a system that brakes the inner wheel to the turn to facilitate the taking of curves of low and medium speed.
2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS

According to data provided by Porsche, the 911 GT2 RS is the fastest vehicle currently marketed. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 2.8 seconds, one tenth less than what the 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series needs mentioned a few paragraphs higher. The maximum speed is also slightly higher (340 km / h versus 330 km / h), as well as the average fuel consumption (11.8 versus 9.1 l / 100 km).
For the weight of the 911 GT2 to be low, light materials have been used in the manufacture of many vehicle parts. The fins, bonnet, exterior mirror covers, side air intakes or the seat structure are made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic . The roof is made of magnesium, the exhaust system in titanium and the brake discs, with carboceramic material. With the same objective, Porsche gives the possibility of eliminating the multimedia system and the air conditioner (two elements that are part of the standard equipment).
Optionally, Porsche also offers the so-called “Weissach Package”, which reduces the total weight of the vehicle by 30 kilos. With this package, the stabilizer bars , the flywheel ring and the shift cams are carbon fiber, while the rims are made of magnesium. It also includes a safety cage for the cockpit made of titanium and the mats are removed.
In addition to the various mechanical changes, the 911 GT2 RS is distinguished from other versions of the 911 range because it has a different bumper, a large fixed rear spoiler and two exhaust outlets embedded in the rear aerodynamic diffuser.
