2018 Hyundai Santa Fe – Hyundai has presented the fourth generation of Santa Fe, a vehicle with the aspect of off-road of which there are versions with five or seven seats. It has a body that measures 4.77 m in length, 1.89 m in width and 1.68 m in height. It is, therefore, eight centimeters longer, one wider and equal in height than the model it replaces, the Santa Fe 2016. By size and body type, some of its alternatives are the KIA Sorento , the SsangYong Rexton , the Mitsubishi Outlander or the Škoda Kodiaq .
The range of engines is wider than the previous model. Now available with three Diesel -2.0 CRDi 150 hp, 2.0 CRDi 182 hp and 2.2 CRDi 196 hp- and one petrol -2.4 GDi 185 hp-. The latter is always associated with a six-speed automatic gearbox, while the rest has a manual of six relations or, optionally, an automatic new development with 8 speeds. The traction, like in the previous model, can be front or total automatically connectable (by means of a system to which Hyundai denominates HTRAC).
The trunk of the Santa Fe 2018 five-seater has 625 liters capacity, 40 more than the previous model (for the time being we do not know the data for the seven-seat versions). In front of its alternatives it is in a very advantageous position, since it only has one of greater size the Jaguar F-PACE and the Škoda Kodiaq of five squares. Hyundai says that the space for the legs in the second row of seats is larger than in the previous model and access to the third row is more comfortable and wide (we will check it as soon as we can measure a unit).
According to the data provided by Hyundai, the fourth-generation Santa Fe body has a torsional rigidity greater than that of the previous model thanks, among other reasons, to a chassis made of 57% high-strength steel (15%) more than in the previous model) in which larger diameter welds have been made at some points. The suspension maintains the same schemes as in the previous model, but now has firmer dampers that, moreover, are placed in a more vertical position (according to Hyundai, this allows a greater travel of the suspension and reduces noise and vibrations produced when driving).
The Santa Fe 2018 can have a lot of safety equipment and support for driving included in a package to which Hyundai «SmartSense». This includes, among other elements, a cross traffic warning when backing up with automatic braking function (until now it only alerted the driver, but did not intervene in the brakes), «Safe Exit Assist», which warns the passenger who is point to open a door of the possible presence of a vehicle approaching from behind (and keeps the door closed), or «Rear Occupant Alert», an assistant that detects movement of people or animals in the rear seats and alerts the driver when they stop be busy You can also have items such as the city emergency braking system with pedestrian detection, aalert for involuntary lane change and a vehicle detector in the blind spot .
The multimedia system with more features (which is optional) has an eight-inch touch screen, is compatible with Android Auto and CarPlay systems and includes a free subscription for seven years to TomTom’s LIVE services (allow you to check the weather forecast, the fuel price, the situation of the speed control cameras or the state of the traffic). Other novelties in the Santa Fe are the possibility of installing an information system projected on the windshield with an eight-inch display surface – provides information on the speed at which the vehicle is moving, the indications of the navigation system or the operation of the drivers’ assistants – and a wireless charging system for some mobile devices.
The alloy wheels can be 17, 18 or 19 inches in diameter.
