Audi completely renews the A7 Sportback (2018 Audi A7 Sportback), a saloon of 4.97 meters in length with five doors and a body whose design evokes that of a coupe. The prices will be available at the end of November 2017 and the first deliveries will be at the end of February 2018. It replaces the A7 Sportback 2014 and, with respect to it, premieres elements of assistance to the driving and equipment recently presented in the Audi A8 .
2018 Audi A7 Sportback has four or five seats, depending on whether you choose with two single rear seats or a three-seater running chair. Initially it will be available with a gasoline engine of six cylinders in uve and 3.0 liters of 340 horses (vesión 55 TFSI), associated to an automatic box of double clutch with eight gears and always with traction to the four wheels. Although Audi has not given more details, it does say that there will be other six- and eight-cylinder petrol and diesel engines available later. In 2018 there will also be an electric version e-tron.
All versions of the 2018 Audi A7 Sportback have an electrical system composed of a main network operating at 48 V and a secondary network at 12 V. The main one serves, among other functions, to supply a system that, through an electric machine that makes the times alternator, recovers kinetic energy during the retention periods and stores it as electrical energy in a lithium ion battery. Its operation allows smoothing the restart of the combustion engine when it is turned off as it advances by inertia. At the moment, Audi does not comment anything that may have the active suspension released on the A8.
Its dimensions are almost in line with those of the previous A7 Sportback. It has a length of 4.97 m, a width of 1.90 m, a height of 1.42 m and a wheelbase of 2.93 m. It is therefore equally long and tall, and a centimeter narrower than the model it replaces, and its battle grows two centimeters. The trunk has 535 liters of capacity, unchanged. We have made some first measurements of the interior, although we will be able to measure it with more precision later. Audi says that the passenger compartment is two centimeters longer and that this favors the space for the knees of the passengers behind (although it does not say that that is the amount that grows).
It can optionally have dynamic all-wheel steering and suspension with pneumatic springs, as well as a self-locking rear differential of active type. The standard ones are metallic, with dampers of adjustable hardness in all the cases. The spoiler is retractable (as in the previous A7) and unfolds at 120 km / h.
The tail lights are LED technology and between the two ends of the body are connected by a lighted band. The entire light system performs a series of light sequences depending on whether the car doors are opened or closed. All the headlights perform their functions through ledes, some with more of these and perform more functions. In addition you can have, like the A8 and the R8 , laser lights.
There are 15 body colors available, eight of which are new to Audi. Optionally it is possible to add a package of external and internal attachments, under the denomination S Line, that give the A7 a sportier appearance through the modification of the grill, the bumpers (the front one has larger air intakes and the rear one diffuser different) and the addition of decorative moldings of dark color. Inside, the seats, the seams, the steering wheel and small identification details change. The tires can be up to 21 inches in diameter.
2018 Audi A7 Sportback Dashboard
On the dashboard of the 2018 Audi A7 Sportback there are several screens oriented towards the driver (similar to the one that has premiered the A8 2018; image ). One of them shows the instrumentation, as in other models of the range. The one on the center console is tactile, 10.1 inches and serves to handle most functions of the car and multimedia system. It is concealed, so that it is hidden when the equipment or the car is switched off.
Beneath this is another 8.6-inch touchscreen, which controls the air conditioning of the car, some functions of the seats such as heating and ventilation and, in the same module, a black surface is included on the which can be written with your fingers, replacing the MMI rotary knob which, for now, is still present on some lower cost Audi models.
There are three multimedia systems available: MMI radio (basic), MMI navigation and MMI Navigation Plus (the one that gives the most benefits). You can also choose four different sound equipment, the most powerful of which is developed by Bang & Olufsen. Among the available comfort equipment are the front seats with heating and ventilation, an air conditioning system that ionizes the air and has air freshener, the tailgate of the electric boot that can be opened and closed by a gesture with the foot under the bumper or a thermal windscreen.
As an option, as in the Audi A8, there are a number of assistants that will be available after the launch of the first units, during 2018. One of them, called Audi AI remote parking pilot (inside the package Audi AI parking package) help the driver during parking maneuvers by steering the steering wheel to avoid friction, you can park the vehicle in the selected place without intervention on the controls or do it remotely through a mobile application (myAudi app).
Depending on the safety and assistance equipment, the A7 can be equipped with up to five radar sensors, five cameras, 12 ultrasonic sensors and a laser scanner. These are used to assist, among others, the active speed programmer with jam detection or the lane maintenance system .
In the manufacture of the A7 aluminum has been used in multiple areas of the body and chassis. In the international presentation in Germany, managers of Audi have confirmed that during 2018 will be released a new model called Q8, as well as the new Q3, A1 and A6.
