Isuzu Motors has provoked the 2017 Isuzu MUX SUV through an official video that reveals its minimal exterior details. While the new MUX will go on sale in Thailand on March 4, it could reach the Indian market in April 2017. This 7-seat SUV will be assembled through CKD units at the new carmaker plant in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. In India, the 2017 Isuzu MUX SUV will be introduced as a replacement for the MU-7, and will face Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavor.
The Japanese automaker mostly serves commercial space with the D-Max pick-up, which was launched in 2012 in India. Although the company also has a 7 seat SUV – MU-7 – it could not bring many buyers due to a very limited number of outlets the company has. Now, with its focus on network expansion, the company is also planning to launch the Isuzu MUX SUV in India. In fact, the company has already imported the vehicle for the purpose of the test.
At the heart of the Isuzu MUX will be the RZ4E-TC 1.9-liter turbo diesel and the 4JJ1-TCX 3.0-liter turbo diesel. While the former is capable of producing 148bhp power at 3,600rpm and 350Nm of torque at 1,800rpm – 2600rpm, the latter offers 174.5bhp at 3,600rpm and 380Nm at 1,800rpm – 2,800rpm. To carry out the tasks of transmission, there will be a manual 5-speed and an automatic gearbox.
The new Isuzu SUV shares its platform and multiple design cues with the Chevrolet Trailblazer. At the front, the SUV carries new projector headlights with LED daytime running lights, new grille and bumper, fog lamps with chrome cover. To the side, the car features elongated wheel arches and a new pair of 18-inch alloy wheels. The rear design looks sporty with the new LED taillights and Trailblazer inspired rear windshield.
The interior of the Isuzu MUX, too, looks identical to the Trailblazer. The teaser reveals that the vehicle will have new beige interior theme, revised dashboard with wood trim and new seat upholstery. The new Isuzu SUV comes with a range of comfort and safety features including a 6-speaker touch-screen infotainment system with Bluetooth navigation and connectivity, a silver accented steering wheel, mounted 10-inch DVD monitor On the roof, split and fold the seats of the 2nd and 3rd row, climate control, 12 cup holders and 19 cubicles.
2017 Isuzu MUX India Release Date
Reports suggest that the new Isuzu SUV could reach the coast of India in April 2017. However, the company has not made any official word about its launch.
