Lexus has introduced a minor update to the 2016 Lexus CT 200h, bringing modest exterior tweaks and tech upgrades for the 2016 model year.
Lexus are trying to make sure their model lineup stays fresh for the 2016MY. Therefore, a shy wind of change started blowing over the Japanese brand’s lineup.
The hybrid hatchback already received a significant facelift for 2014, introducing Lexus’ characteristic spindle grille. The front end has now been enhanced a bit more with a revised chrome-surround grille, though the official images accompanying the announcement only show the car from the side or rear.
Buyers who want a bit of extra natural lighting throughout the cabin can now outfit the hatchback with a power tilt-and-slide moonroof, with the typical one-touch controls and a manual sliding sunshade.
The 2016 model also introduces two of Lexus’ latest subscription services including Enform Remote and Enform Service Connect. The former allows owners to remotely view and control certain vehicle functions via Android or iOS devices, while the latter provides additional information regarding maintenance, diagnostics and service campaigns.
The company has not made any changes to the CT 200h’s hybrid system, which pairs a 1.8-liter inline four-cylinder engine with an electric motor. Combined output reaches a modest 134 horsepower, but achieves an impressive city/highway EPA rating of 43/40 mpg.
There are a lot of cars on the market and all of these cars are targeted at a specific segment of the market. The CT 200h from Lexus is an alternative to the Prius for people wanting a more complete and luxurious package. New version will be delivered as a 2016 Lexus CT 200h model and it will continue where previous generation stopped. It manages to fill that role quite well and it has been quite well received since its launch back in 2011.
There is no doubt that this model offers a lot, but the car is quite dated now so they are going to release a new model with the 2016 Lexus CT 200h which is going to use the brand new technology from the Prius, meaning a better fuel consumption, more performance as well as a lower price. Unlike what most people think, this is going to be a new car based on a new modular platform from Toyota rather than just a facelift.
2016 LEXUS CT 200H PRICE
The release date hasn’t been announced just yet but it is very likely that the car will launch at the Geneva Auto Show in 2016. The base price should be around $30,000 for the base model and up to $40,000 for a fully equipped car. Unfortunately there is not going to be any type of plug-in model, so the normal hybrid is the only model of choice.
Just as we previously said, this new 2016 Lexus CT 200h is going to be based on a new platform that both the Prius and the new RAV4 are going to use. This is lighter as well as much easier to work on than before, so the new car should be more spacious inside the cabin as well as have a lower center of gravity which should greatly improve the way it drives.
