With the biggest NASCAR race of them all, the Daytona 500, slated to get underway on Sunday, the J. Pauley Toyota Blog thought we would give you a preview glimpse of the 2015 Daytona 500 Pace Car. Leading the field throughout the race will be a a 2015 Toyota Camry, with specialized livery covering the exterior. Paralympics star and “Dancing With The Stars” finalist Amy Purdy will continue her role as a Toyota athlete by being the official driver of the this year’s pace car for “The Great American Race.” This is only the second time a Toyota model has been used as a pace car for the Daytona 500. The previous time was back in 2012.
The Toyota Camry makes a natural choice to be the 2015 Daytona 500 Pace Car. For the last 13 years, the Toyota Camry has been the best-selling midsize sedan in the United States. For the 2015 model-year, the Camry has been completely redesigned with a new and much more aggressive exterior body style. If a label had to be put on it, it would be fair to say the basis for the 2015 Daytona 500 Pace Car is incredibly more athletic than previous models. After all, you could take a look at the Special Edition Camry that will be coming to J. Pauley Toyota this fall.
Also making an appearance next to the 2015 Daytona 500 Pace Car is the SpongeBob SquarePants 2015 Toyota Sienna. The class-leading minivan has been completely decked out in SpongeBob features, including a ship’s wheel that replaces the steering wheel. This may not be street legal. In addition to the cartoonishly nautical-themed interior, there is a large flat screen TV in the rear of the van to allow everyone in a five-mile radius to watch an episode or two of the child-friendly program.
If you would like to see why makes the Toyota Camry such an excellent choice for the 2015 Daytona 500 Pace Car or why people who draw cartoons don’t design practical vehicles (but Toyota does), schedule an appointment to see a J. Pauley Toyota sales professional today.
