A few months ago we tried the Volkswagen Crafter , a 2.0 van that led the German offensive of industrialists and has served as a base to give birth to a prototype that we already want to become a reality. Next September 26, Volkswagen will present in Düsseldorf the ‘motorhome’ version of the Crafter: the California XXL concept .
For the moment a prototype, this caravan whose name gives an idea of its size, is a house with wheels . With a height of almost 3 meters allows to house in its interior a bed of 2 meters in length, a complete kitchen … A good option to get lost in future summers.
An interior that promises
Maybe during the Düsseldorf Caravan Show, the German firm will be encouraged to disclose if this Crafter based concept will see the light or not. At the moment no images of his interior have been published, but the sketches show a very equipped kitchen and a wet bathroom with shower and WC.
The kitchen has a refrigerator, two hobs, an extendable countertop and a sink, as well as an ambient lighting system and plenty of possibilities to distribute your house on wheels at your leisure. And in the front, some seats that can be turned 180 degrees.
Recall that the Crafter has a huge rear cargo space of up to 18.4 cubic meters , and this XXL version has been expanded. The height of almost 3 meters allows life in the interior to unfold in comfort, and that on the outside can be mounted a table and chairs under an extendible awning , as a porch.
In the exterior it includes a body with the possibility of being two-tone and a large grill flanked by two front pilots with LED technology. With regard to motorization, this prototype has an electric motor with a range of 200 km , although the final version would presumably carry a range similar to that of the Crafter: three blocks of 2.0 liter TDI, one of 102 hp, an intermediate step of 140 hp And finally the biturbo of 177 hp.
