Despite its dynamic look, the small SUV C-HR is satisfied with two engines with modest powers. But in Frankfurt, a concept comes to announce the arrival of a hybrid version faster, called Toyota C-HR Hy-Power.
Despite its rather salty prices and the absence of any diesel, the Toyota C-HR Hy-Power begins its commercial career on the hats. But the range of the small SUV Toyota is still to expand, as announced a very pragmatic concept unveiled in Frankfurt . Its name, Hy-Power, should be kept in series to designate an unprecedented hybrid version more powerful than today. At the moment, the combination of an atmospheric 1.8 Atkinson cycle and an electric motor is limited to 122 hp , as on the Prius 4 which shares the same mechanics.
Features unveiled at the beginning of 2018
If this figure is exceeded by the C-HR Hy-Power, Toyota does not give any indication as to the means used to achieve this, nor the precise characteristics. The Japanese brand prefers to dwell on the look, which does not deviate too much from that of the series model. In addition to new 20-inch wheels, this “concept” is mostly offered by orange-colored keys on windscreen posts, mirrors and even headlights. A tint also very present in the cockpit, which also receives a padded leather upholstery. It is very close to a start in production, and Toyota promises to give more details on this C-HR Hy-Power from early 2018.
