Rivian is preparing to launch its electric vehicles on the market and they will come with a warranty of up to 8 years / 280,000 km.
The startup Rivian continues to be talked about, and the news will go at an even more frantic pace in the coming months, as it prepares to launch its first vehicles. After announcing that each customer would be matched with a “Rivian guide” to have all of their questions answered, the builder revealed the details of their warranty. So we now know that all vehicles sold in Canada will be covered for 8 years / 280,000 km for mechanical, electrical and battery components.
This is the information just confirmed to us by Rivian , who had so far given very few details for Canadian consumers. Indeed, Rivian confirmed details of the guarantee offered in the United States last week, but nothing had been announced for Canada. Contacted by RPM , the company was quick to say that Canadian consumers would be covered by a warranty identical to that of American customers, which is as follows:
– General: 5 years / 100,000 km
– Battery: 8 years / 280,000 km
– Electric motor: 8 years / 280,000 km
– Perforation: 8 years / unlimited mileage
Compared with other manufacturers who sell electric vehicles, Rivian is ahead in terms of warranty. On the Tesla side, the general warranty is 4 years / 80,000 km, while that on the powertrain and battery varies between 8 years \ 160,000 km and 8 years / 240,000 km depending on the model. On the side of other manufacturers, such as Nissan, Chevrolet, Ford, Hyundai and Kia, the warranty on the battery is generally 8 years / 160,000 km, while the general warranty is 3 years / 60,000 km.
Rivian also gave some information about customer service. There will be specialist mechanics doing mobile service, which owners can contact directly with the manufacturer’s mobile app. If major repairs are required, vehicles will be transported to service centers, which will eventually be set up, but the actual locations remain unknown in Canada at this time.
Remember that Rivian intends to launch its R1T truck for the American market next June, so the R1S SUV will arrive a few months later. In Canada, the first copies should be available next November.
