This is no longer a secret, the Chevrolet Corvette range will soon win a model with rear center engine. A Corvette “Zora” or “Emperor” here surprised alongside the future ZR1 front engine.
Over the prototypes, the Chevrolet Corvette with a rear central engine comes out of the shade. Emperor of the internal code name, or Zora what could be its official name. In memory of Zora Arkus-Duntov, father of the Corvette. And ardent defender of a Corvette driving its engine to the rear. Long remained between reflection and hesitation, the green light of the project was finally given, and development follows its course. And the mules tinkered with a pick-up body Holden Ute have given way to copies with their final bodywork.
The details are still unidentifiable under camouflage. But the prototypes of this Zora Corvette are visible here in the company of the future ZR1. Which remains faithful to the engine before.
The central cell seems quite close, the two models probably remaining based on the same architecture (platform Y). On the other hand, the proportions are radically different. The elongated rear and the shortened front (wheel axle / door space) of the rear engine version are clearly identified.
The Corvette ZR1 is expected to be unveiled soon, with commercialization for the 2018 model year. The Corvette “Zora” could be unveiled at the Detroit show in early 2018, to be launched as a 2019 model.
