Hot on the heels of showing a concept for a brand 2019 INFINITI QX50 circuit at the 2017 Detroit Show, Infiniti looks well on the brink of bringing the vehicle to production. These images triggered by TFL fan Samuel Barber at interstate 5 in Kern County, California, north of Los Angeles, show a boxer shape that answers the current question of the QX50.
As the interior gets a complete overhaul, bigger news, Infiniti is deploying its latest stand-alone system in the QX50 and features a new engine, its Turbo Variable Compression (VC-Turbo), which aims, as indicated The state of Infiniti’s press, “To offer a powertrain that fits to deliver both power and efficiency.” Here’s another explanation of Infiniti on the turbo 4.
“The INFINITI VC-Turbo 2.0 liter production engine represents an unavoidable alternative to diesel powertrains, particularly in the mid-sized premium crossover segment. The VC-Turbo engine is able to adapt its compression ratio according to the driving conditions in order to provide levels of performance and efficiency optimum. This contradicts the notion that hybrid technology and diesel are the only powertrains capable of offering high efficiency and torque. For its application in the QX50 concept, the man-machine interface (HMI) demonstrates to the driver and passengers how the VC-Turbo adapts to the driving conditions. The HMI displays the current state of the engine because it intelligently selects high performance levels and efficiency.
“With a reduced capacity and high horsepower and torque, the 2.0-liter VC-Turbo engine delivers impressive output power – higher than many competitive four-cylinder turbo Performance of some V6 petrol engines. In time for engine start-up in 2018, INFINITI engineers are aiming for a 27% improvement in fuel efficiency compared to V6 petrol Similar output “.
