A beautiful Frankfurt show in perspective for Peugeot, which will present not only the most successful sports in its history but also cut 100% electric research to visual and sound design very studied. Peugeot Fractal
After the Geneva show, Peugeot has put the dishes in large to Frankfurt. Besides promising 308 GTi and his cousin pistarde, Peugeot will unveil the concept Fractal, a small electric roadster.
3.81 m long, this study continues to explore the angular style introduced by Gilles Vidal since 2010 SR1, in an even more aggressive vein as the Quartz Global 2014 ultra picked hatchback silhouette and camped on Rims 19 “optical merely suggested and now almost crossed with a sickle LEDs, muscles and sharp cantilever tiny, this nasty young lion seems to have quite a presence for such a compact car. It is underlined by the dress “clean cut” now dear to Peugeot with carbon to stern and pure white from the doors.
The Peugeot Fractal is also two cars in one. Remove the flag and you get a 2 2 convertible. That will be also better for the skull unhappy rear passengers, based on these pictures. It is unlikely that this tantalizing concept foreshadows the arrival of a 208 CC in the range if we stick to statements by Carlos Tavares Picat and Maxime, who announced that Peugeot would abandon the niches now (those CC variants and cut RCZ) to concentrate on the heart of the market, sedans and crossovers.
However, we could find in the medium term serial bits of this new interpretation of the bold i-cockpit house (small flying low position, high instrumentation directly under the eyes, minimalist ergonomics).Aboard the Fractal, atmosphere mixing copper and black oak is more refined than ever, including the center console reduced to a simple hanging curve and adorned with buttons, with his foot a touch screen horizontally. 80% of the parts of the cockpit are also produced in 3D printing.
Under the hood, a 1.6 THP or three-cylinder supercharged 1.2 Puretech? Not at all. An electric motor in the front, another at the back, for a total of 204 hp (2 x 102 hp). 0 to 100 km / h in 6.8 s is announced and 1000 m standing start in 28.8 seconds. The autonomy reaches 450 km thanks to a mass contained in 1 t and a variable ground clearance to optimize aerodynamics. Although the weight / power / autonomy is too tempting to be realistic in the near future, the choice of an electric motor is not trivial: Peugeot has not abandoned this path, always considered indispensable to the side of Diesel and PHEV for reducing CO2 emissions.
The highlight of the show remains ultra sophisticated sound system, with stereo 9.1.2 developed by the French specialist facility Focal while infrabass of boxes designed by the American Subpac are integrated into the back of each seat. The set allows a particularly spatial sound to complement the i-Cockpit. This particular results in the GPS guidance based on the directions to follow. The system adapts course to the sound environment in the cabriolet configuration. It also emits sounds outside to compensate for the silence of the low-speed electric motors and harmoniously signal to pedestrians and cyclists.
Go with us on September 15 at the Frankfurt Show to discover firsthand the concept Peugeot Fractal.
