Buying a car of more than 400 horsepower for less than 20,000 is possible! From the Italian, to the German, passing by the English or the American, there is something for everyone. Same thing for engines with an anthology of V8, V10 and V12. It’s up to you to choose between Porsche, Maserati, BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar or Cadillac!
Breathtaking line, original Ferrari V8 with captivating musicality and price less than € 20,000 for the Maserati Quattroporte. Under this symbolic bar, you can afford version 4.2 of 400 hp (2003 to 2008) with the robotic box. Unlike the usual clichés, apart from a few small electronic problems, the car is rather reliable and its maintenance not delusional.
BMW 7 Series (E66)
For less than € 20,000, you can play it as a master driver by offering yourself a BMW 7 Series (E66) first phase (2001 to 2005). But not just any version, the 760i with the 445 hp V12.
BMW 7 Series (F02)
You can also find the next generation in a less powerful variant and with a few less cylinders, the 750i and its 4.4 V8 of 407 hp.
Mercedes CLS 55 AMG
The superb 4-door coupe arrives in its 55 AMG variant in 2004. Under the hood? A V8 compressor 5.5 of 476 horsepower which sings very loud and allows good performances: 0 to 100 km / h in 4.7 s and 250 km / h of maximum speed. Count a little less than € 20,000 for a model in good condition, knowing that CLS 63 AMG 514 hp versions are also available.
Mercedes S-Class (W221)
Another Mercedes, but the upper segment with the S-Class (Type W221) produced between 2005 and 2013. For less than € 20,000, you will find a few examples of the S 600 and its V12 5.5 biturbo with 517 hp. Restyled variants of the S 500 are also common at these prices, but you’ll have to contend with a 435bhp 4.7 turbo V8 with high mileage.
Mercedes E-Class 55 AMG (W211)
The next Mercedes in our slideshow is none other than the E-Class in its 55 AMG variant. Released in 2002, it will delight fans of supercharged sedans since it features a compressed V8 of 476 hp.
Mercedes E-Class 63 AMG (W211)
You can also find the version after restyling 63 (2006), more powerful (V8 6.2 514 ch) but necessarily more mileage and therefore more prone to problems.
Porsche Cayenne Turbo 1
Without a doubt, it is the vehicle over 400 hp that you will see most often on used car sales sites, the Porsche Cayenne. First SUV in the history of the German brand, unloved by purists, it sold like hot cakes. It is therefore easy to find a copy of the first generation (2003 to 2007) in a Turbo version (V8 4.5 of 450 hp) for around € 12,000 with high mileage.
Porsche Cayenne GTS 1
More recent restyled models (2007 to 2010), such as the GTS (V8 4.8 405 hp) or the Turbo (V8 4.8 and 4.5 of 500 hp), flirt with the bar of € 20,000 but often display mileage that can put off some more than one.
Audi RS4 (B7)
The first Audi in our slideshow is adored by purists. And for good reason, with its atmospheric 420 hp V8 with its demonic sound, the RS4 (B7 from 2006 to 2008) has something to make its driver happy. Especially since nowadays, it is possible to afford one since it is found for less than € 20,000 (in Avant wagon version) with all the same around 200,000 km on the clock.
Audi S6 (C6)
Another Audi, another segment, the third generation S6 (C6) produced between 2006 and 2001. Under its hood, nothing less than the Lamborghini Gallardo V10 deflated to 435 hp but with a higher displacement (5.2 liters) . Here again, most of the models on sale are in Avant station wagon version and display mileage exceeding 150,000 km.
Audi RS6 (C5)
The first RS6 in history, the C5 produced in some 8,000 units from 2002 to 2004 is affordable since there are often units in station wagon version around € 10-12,000. Often times the mileage is high and will therefore require monitoring the condition of the 450 hp 4.2 V8.
Audi S8 (D3)
For 20,000 €, it is also possible to afford an Autobahn limousine, namely the Audi S8. Under the hood, we find the V10 of a supercar, the Lamborghini Gallardo. Just that ! 450 horses sent to 4 wheels for long motorway rides at full speed.
Audi A8 W12 (D3)
Another variant of the A8, the W12 in 450 hp version (D3 from 2003 to 2010). This block, the result of the marriage of two VR6s, catapults the almost two tonnes of the car up to 250 km / h and barely more than 5 seconds for 0 to 100 km / h. Nowadays, an A8 W12 (D3) is around € 15,000 (€ 122,000 new in 2003) for an early-generation model in good condition and still flirting with 200,000 km.
Cadillac Escalade 3
Driving American for € 20,000 is rare but possible. The first choice is to opt for a big rapper-style SUV, the third generation Cadillac Escalade. To push its 5.14 m long and 2.6 tonnes on the scale, the Escalade can count on a V8 6.2 of 410 horsepower. Attention, big gasoline budget to plan!
