BMW wireless charging technology would like to offer a whole range of automobiles for its electric cars and hybrids. BMW will not be the music of the future anymore. That\’s why the brand wants to offer the brand next year for the hybrid version of the 5 Series.

BMW technology developed in cooperation with the firm Qualcomm as part of their entry into Formula E. enterprise wireless charging works on the known principle of electromagnetic induction. It\’s basically the same solution that works for mobile phones, for example.

But BMW will be the first car to offer this technology to the production car. The new generation will be able to test the BMW 5 Series owners in the hybrid version of the 530e iPerformance next year. It uses a supercharged two-liter four-cylinder and an electric motor with a combined output of 251 hp (185 kW) and a torque of 420 Nm.

The 9,2 kWh electric motor battery can be recharged wirelessly, with full charging for 3.5 hours, 1.5 hours longer than the cable and the quick charger supplied.

The advantage , however, is the absence of the need to manually connect the car to the grid and handle the charger. The driver will simply drive the front of the car over the recharging platform located on the ground, switch off the ignition, and the vehicle automatically connects and starts charging.

BMW mentions that the rechargeable platform can be used not only in the covered garage, but also without problems outside. With the perfect placement of the car above the platform, the driver assists the parking assistant on the on-board display.
