BMW renews its i3 without changing it radically. Its autonomy having already recently been increased is a new dress, new aids to driving and especially a more sporty i3s version that we propose this time BMW.

The materials on board were renewed to make a little more chic and 80% of what the driver can see in the passenger compartment comes from recycling. The global design, however, does not evolve. BMW has grafted some very useful assistants for its playing field that is the city with in particular a semi-automatic corking combining the active correction of trajectory with the adaptive regulator. A navigation that takes better account of the autonomy of the i3 according to the mode of driving used is also invited on board. Equipment equipped with a battery of connected services to travel always cleaner and more efficient.

The new BMW I3, in its conventional version, is therefore equipped with a battery of 94 Ah / 33 kWh offering not less than 170 ch (250 Nm of torque) and a little more than 200 km in autonomy real (BMW gives us this now value on open road). This significantly changes the 300 km announced by the NEDC cycle, which has never been representative of reality. The i3s receives a boost with an increased power to 184 hp (270 Nm of torque). A more unbridled management of its electric unit and better performance bearings improve its performance in high speeds. Springs, shock absorbers and anti-roll bars are also firmer. The ground clearance is lowered by 10 mm and the tracks enlarged by 40 mm history to muscle a little the bodywork and improve the speed of passage in curve.

With its intelligent anti-skid management system, it also improves its ability to escape from a red light up to 100 km / h by 4 tenths, or a total of 6.9 seconds. A Mini JCW does not do better. Its actual autonomy remains comparable to the standard version with a little more than 200 km. Note that for the more anxious, the thermal twin as a prolongation of autonomy remains proposed, it brings a surplus autonomy of the order of 150 km real but darkened the carbon balance … (14 g / km of CO2 only).

As for recharging, the cable now includes a temperature probe and a Wallbox allows to recover 180 km of autonomy in less than 3 hours. Count 5 times more with a conventional plug. BMW should tell us more about its price changes at the Frankfurt Motor Show where it will be unveiled to the public for the first time.
