Alfa Romeo presented the 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tributo , inspired by the 1967 Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale, the brand’s legendary mid-engined sports car. Only 33 copies of this limited edition 4C Spider will be produced, only for North America.
From one beauty to another
In this 110th anniversary year, Alfa Romeo revisits its glorious past, awaiting a hypothetical rebirth that the Alfists are desperately waiting for. After the Giulia GTAm which paid homage to the bombinettes of the 60s, the graduating 4C Spider, whose coupe version has already bowed out in 2019, offers itself as a last stand a limited series paying homage to the famous 33 Stradale.
“Since its introduction in 2014, the 4C has been a flagship vehicle for Alfa Romeo , thrilling enthusiasts around the world and leading the brand’s relaunch in North America,” said Tim Kuniskis, Director of Alfa Romeo. “The 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tributo is an instant Alfa Romeo classic passing the baton to the next generation of iconic Alfa Romeo vehicles, including the upcoming Tonale PHEV crossover which will go into production next year . ” Admit, the PHEV crossover is very fashionable but it is less vibrating than the 4C. Had to dare this association! The 4C is a pure concentrate of happiness, a racing chassis (monocoque carbon fiber frame), a swift engine, overpowered brakes and no frills.
From the Tipo 33 of sports prototypes, the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale which inspires this tribute is a marvel, perhaps even the most beautiful of all Alfa for some. Produced in only 18 units between 1967 and 1969, this bella macchina hid under its elegant and curved dress a V8 of 1,995 cm 3 with four overhead camshafts, in the rear central position, with a power of 230 hp at 8 800 rpm . It reached a speed of 260 km / h , in part thanks to its featherweight of 700 kilos made possible among other things by a body and a monocoque aluminum chassis. The 4C doesn’t equal the classic beauty of 1967, but it has its arguments.
The 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tributo is available exclusively in the Rosso Villa d’Este exterior color, with 18 inch gray-gold alloy wheels front / 19 inch rear, composite sport seats covered in suede Dinamica colors black and tobacco. The interior is adorned with the essential dedicated plaques on the dashboard, side skirts and center console, the latter being numbered consecutively. Customers can also receive a numbered and coordinated book designed by the Design Center that tells about the design concept, technology, materials and assembly plant of Modena 4C, as well as the history of 33 Stradale.
In addition, much of the equipment of the previously optional 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tributo comes standard, including an Akrapovic center exhaust , race-friendly suspension, bi-xenon headlights, battery charger. battery, a car cover, halo leather suede and carbon fiber seats as well as a rear spoiler and mirror caps flanked by the Italian flag. The new “Centro Stile Alfa Romeo” badges complete the refined exterior treatment.
As a reminder, the 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tributo comes with an Alfa 6-speed dual-clutch transmission and a 1750cc direct-injection turbo aluminum engine with variable valve timing, producing 237 horsepower. It offered a beautiful and impressive power-to-weight ratio and reached 0 to 100 km / h in 4.1 seconds .
The 2020 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tributo marks the last production run of the 4C Spider for North America, which has had the privilege of enjoying it a little longer than Europe. This racy little coupé is thus taking its bow, 6 years after its launch. It is a real shame that Alfa Romeo has not, for the moment, proposed a true heiress, which fits perfectly with the DNA and the spirit of the brand.
