The next generation of Volkswagen Passat could be available in a zero emission variant.
Contrary to previous rumors which announced its end of career, the Volkswagen Passat will continue to the catalog of the German manufacturer. According to new information, the next generation of the family sedan will technically have an evolution of the MQB platform and will now be identical in all markets. It will still be necessary to show patience since the British media Autocar announces that the model in question must arrive on the market by 2023.
48 VOLT MICRO-HYBRIDIZATION
Note that in addition to a rechargeable hybrid version (GTE), an electric variant would also be in the game. Unfortunately, we do not have more information at the moment. The other gasoline and diesel engines would be assisted by a 48-volt micro-hybridization. The Passat would continue to be offered in sedan, station wagon and Alltrack bodywork (with raised ground clearance), as well as in two and four-wheel drive.
On the equipment side, the Volkswagen brand should notably offer an improved semi-autonomous driving system, as well as 5G. To be continued.
