Hyundai updates the i20 range, available with bodywork of three and five doors, the first of them with denomination Coupé. It receives changes in the appearance, more safety equipment, a revision in the range of engines (remains unchanged, but has new elements to control emissions), all gasoline and the introduction of a seven-speed automatic gearbox.
The current model has been on sale since 2015 and is also available with a body 20 mm further away from the ground ( i20 Active ). It is a tourism that stands out for the pleasantness of its handling, because everything works with smoothness and precision and because it has a large passenger compartment compared to its alternatives, which can be, among others, the Ford Fiesta , the Mazda2 , the SEAT Ibiza or the Volkswagen Polo .
The biggest outside novelty is the possibility of choosing the bodywork of five doors in two tones, with the painted ceiling in black (Phantom Black, so far, only the third pillar was black). There is a panoramic sunroof and eight body colors available, of which three are new: Tomato Red, Champion Blue and Clean Slate. They change both bumpers, the grill, the fog lamps and the pilots. The design of the tires, 15 or 16 inches in diameter, is also new.
From the level of basic equipment is standard a new seven-inch screen for the multimedia system, without browser but with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (Hyundai says that, well, you can have navigation without opting for the most expensive multimedia system). The most advanced system does have a browser.
The range of engines, all gasoline, is composed, as before, by two 1.2 liters with 75 and 84 horses, and two 1.0 of 100 and 120 horses. The five-door variant can have 75, 84 engines (with five-speed manual gearbox) and 120 horses (with six manual gearbox). The variant Coupé, only the engine of 120 horses, and the Active is only available with engine of 100 horses and manual change of five marches or a new automatic transmission of double clutch with seven relations. All have the Stop & Startautomatic stop and start system (Hyundai calls it Idle Stop and Go, ISG). Versions 1.0 receive, as a novelty, an exhaust particle filter .
Among the systems of assistance to driving, which Hyundai includes in a set of functions called SmartSense, are included the alert by involuntary abandonment of lane with maintenance assistant within the lines from 60 km / h, automatic emergency braking(works inside and outside the city), detection of fatigue in the driver and automatic change between short and long lights .
