The T-Roc is a new vehicle with off-road body, smaller than the Tiguan . At the moment Volkswagen has put on sale a version with petrol engine of 116 hp (the access to the range) and another with diesel engine of 150 hp. Its prices are 23,875 and 34,615 euros respectively, although the most powerful is associated with a higher level of equipment . It measures 4.23 meters in length (25 cm less than the Tiguan), 1.82 m in width and 1,57 m in height. Some of its possible rivals are the Mazda CX-3 , the Opel Mokka X , the Nissan Juke , the Toyota C-HR , the MINI Countryman or the Audi Q2 .

In addition, Volkswagen offers a version called Limited Edition that can only be purchased through the Internet. It costs 39 900 euros, is limited to 150 units and is associated with a 190 hp petrol engine, automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The color of the body is silver, except the roof (which is black) and may require optional equipment such as a sunroof, a 19-inch wheels and the most advanced navigator. The purchase process is as follows: through the website of Volkswagen and by blocking, for seven days, 500 euros, the customer accesses the reservation of a unit. Then you have those seven days to go to the dealer you have chosen to formalize the order. The 500 euros are returned after that time, the order has been finally made or not.

Its interior has five seats (the posteriors are 5 centimeters higher than the previous ones) and the capacity of the trunk is 445 liters in case of having front traction and 392 in the case of having it in the four wheels. The rear seat backs can be folded down into two different size parts (60/40), leaving a load volume of 1290 liters in units with two drive wheels (measuring up to the roof).

In the coming months will be adding engines to the range to be composed of three petrol (1.0 TSI of 116 hp, 1.5 TSI of 150 and 2.0 TSI of 190 hp) and three Diesel (1.6 TDI of 115 hp and two 2.0 TDI of 150 and 190 hp). Those of 115 horses always carry manual change and front traction; the 190-horsepower automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. 150-horsepower engines can be manual and front-wheel drive, automatic transmission and front-wheel drive or automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The manual shift is six ratios and the seven automatic.

The lower priced version, which costs 23,875 euros and has 116 hp, is more expensive than a Mazda CX-3 equivalent (120 hp, 18 545 euros) and less than an Audi Q2 (with the same engine) and a MINI Countryman of 136 hp. Compared to the Opel Mokka and Nissan Juke of equivalent power (costing € 19,406 and € 19,040, respectively), the T-ROC is more expensive. The Toyota CH-R, which is hybrid, has a slightly higher price, 24 750 euros.

All T-Roc with all-wheel drive (4Motion) offer the possibility of changing the setting and response of the automatic gearbox (if equipped), climate control, power steering, active speed controller and variable hardness suspension. There are four driving profiles: Comfort, Normal, Sport, Eco and Individual. The total traction system also has a function (4MOTION Active Control) that allows, from a circular knob, to activate four modes of operation of the traction system; two for road (Street and Snow) and two for off-road (Off-road and Off-road Individual).

The range consists of three levels of equipment: basic or T-Roc, Sport and Style. The Sport will have, among other things, seats with greater lateral support. The Style, for example, offers the possibility to choose some interior panels in four colors; in this level of equipment, the body can be optionally painted in two colors: one for the roof, the pillars of the windshield and the rear view mirrors and another for the rest. Both levels of equipment can be extended with the R-Line package, which consists of decorative elements for the exterior. The standard tires are 16 inches and the optional wheels (standard with the two trim levels shown) of 17.

All T-Rocs have standard automatic braking after a collision, inadvertent lane change alert , automatic braking with pedestrian detection or driver fatigue detection. Optionally there is active speed programmer, rear traffic alert when leaving parking spaces, involuntary lane change assistant, control of blind spots left by rear-view mirrors, driving assistant in jams, a system that detects if the driver neglects his task (in (which provides warning signals for various alerts), semi-automatic parking or emergency assistance (provides occupants with information on en-route services and can also automatically notify if occupants are in an accident).

Among other possible equipment elements are variable hardness damper, auto-open tailgate, access and hands-free start and instrumentation on a 11.7-inch screen.

The most complete information and entertainment device has an 8-inch screen (the simplest one has a 6.5) that can be completed with App Connect, composed by MirrorLink, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There is an option that enhances the quality of the telephone signal reception (connects to an outdoor antenna) which also includes a wireless surface recharging terminal. There is a Beats sound equipment that has 300 W of power. The headlights can be led, in which case the LEDs that make up the daytime running light and the indicators are integrated into a round element.

This car is based on the modular platform that Volkswagen calls the acronym MQB, which also used, for example, in the Golf and in the Tiguan, or Audi in Q2. It is manufactured for Europe in the Portuguese plant of Setúbal (near Lisbon).
