We photographed for the first time the Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Speedster. It had been rumored for a long time that it might hit the market. These photos confirm this. He was seen in the vicinity of the Nürburgring circuit but, when he was about to perform a test session, a strong storm forced to stop the test. His long run will be in the Pebble Beach Elegance Contest 2017.
After introducing Vanquish Zagato’s Volante (convertible) last year, Gaydon is now working on completing the development of the Speedster model. The newcomer should be considerably more exclusive than the already limited Volante – as opposed to the production of its 99 production units, the British should introduce only 28 examples of the hump-packing model.
Now, before going any further, let us mention that, if you enlarge the pictures showing the windshield frame of the prototype, it seems that the vehicle does not mount the mounting points of the roof.
As such, we will have to wait and see if the newcomer follows the steps of non-roof of the Aston Martin DB AR1 2003 or offers a form of protection against the elements.
The above spyshots show a pair of test cars, namely a Speedster and a Volante. However, unlike the Volante that started last year, the prototype we see here packs a small active rear wing, just like the Speedster – check the Instagram message below to see the Volante tester with the roof down.
We will again ask you to zoom in on spy photos and next to carbon fiber candy, you will notice a small message about a finger trap. Oh, and we added the rendering of the model, which surfaced earlier this year, to the image gallery.
Compared with the Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Speester standard, if you can call it that, the naturally aspirated V12 of the Zagato gets a slight bump of power, offering a displacement of 600 hp.
Given that the car manufacturer has become turbocharged, the DB11 and the upcoming Vantage 2018 have changed in power from Mercedes-AMG, the atmospheric nature of this Grand Tourer does make it more special.
Some aficionados expect Aston to drop the Vanquish Zagato Volante Speedster at the Pebble Beach 2017 Elegance Contest. Nevertheless, with the event taking place in less than a month (20 August), this date of introduction does not seem very likely.
