2015 Ford Expedition Redesign and Release Date – This is expected to be a big year for Ford models. Typically automakers will release one or two redesigned models every year, but Ford is going above and beyond with a number of different redesigned models which are set to arrive this year. That includes the 2015 Ford Mustang, 2015 Ford F-150 and the 2015 Ford Expedition. To help prepare you for the day that these models arrive in our new car inventory, we’re providing you with a closer look at the all-new 2015 Ford Expedition release date.
2015 Ford Expedition Redesign and Release Date
The Expedition, of course, has been Ford’s Tahoe-fighter since its 1997 introduction, gaining an independent rear suspension for 2002, and an all-around re-do in 2007. Not surprisingly, the changes for the 2015 Expedition and its long-wheelbase Expedition EL variant closely mirror those seen on the 2015 Lincoln Navigator, which debuted two weeks ago at the Chicago auto show: front and rear fascias, interior updates, and most significant, a switch from V-8 to turbocharged V-6 power.
Ford has provided broad time frames for all of their 2015 release dates, and while official dates won’t be announced until we get closer to those time frames, the broad estimates are definitely helpful for determining just how long we will have to wait before we receive the newest Ford models in Sterling IL. According to the Ford website, the 2015 Ford Expedition release date will be arriving sometime this fall. That means we’re roughly six months away from adding the all-new SUV to our inventory.
In the past, the Expedition was equipped with fuel-gulping 5.4-liter V8 which offered a great deal of power, but lacked the efficiency that many consumers were looking for. That’s why the automaker has decided to completely drop the V8 option. The engine will be replaced by a 3.5-liter V6 which will employ EcoBoost technology to increase the fuel efficiency of the full-size SUV. Official fuel economy ratings haven’t been announced yet, but we expect them to be much greater than the 14 mpg city and 20 mpg highway ratings which came from the past V8-equipped Expedition.
The engine found under the hood of the 2015 Ford Expedition is far from the only change. The exterior styling of the Expedition has also been completely reimagined to provide the SUV with a sophisticated and sport look that more closely mirrors the performance of the new EcoBoost engine. The interior will still provide seating for up to eight passengers, but it has also received a number of changes to make accessing the spacious cabin more convenient. The interior also takes on some unique styling changes including the addition of LED mood lighting which is strategically spread throughout the cabin to provide a touch of luxury.
Much like some of the other full-size SUVs on the market, the 2015 Ford Expedition will offer a variety of features to add to the overall safety of the vehicle, and to make driving more convenient than ever before. Among the available features in the all-new Expedition is hill climb assist and descent control, load-leveling suspension, rear view camera, blind spot detection and trailer brake control to help you tow without a hitch—figuratively speaking, of course. There aren’t many full-size SUVs quite like the Ford Expedition.
As we said, the all-new 2015 Ford Expedition release date is set to arrive some time this fall. If you’re looking for more information on the official release date, be sure to check back here in the future, where we will have more information as it’s made available. We’re still a ways away from getting the SUV in Sterling IL, but we have plenty of information to keep you busy while you wait right here on our blog.
